Church Family,
We kicked off our First Sunday of Lent talking about the heart and promise of God to stick with his people no matter what. This is good news for us because no matter how far we stray, the Lord’s nature is grace and love. Just like Noah and his family, the Lord offers us a new beginning.
We begin to shift our focus to the Cross, the place where the promise given to Noah and others came to fruition.
In our passage Mark 8:31–38, Jesus begins to prepare his disciples for his Journey to the cross. This journey will be marked with suffering, confusion, betrayal, denial, and grief.
However, Jesus went to the cross anyway. Why? He was being obedient. He calls us to do the same. As disciples, our lives should be centered on our obedience and surrender to the Lord. When we become disciples, our lives are no longer defined by our success and failure but instead should be marked by the cross.
I hope you join us this Sunday as we explore that idea more.
Who are you inviting this week?
And a reminder: We have coffee and tea served at our 8:30 a.m. service!
Blessings,
Pastor Hayley
