Church Family,
Happy Valentine‘s Day! I hope each of you plan to spend your Valentine‘s Day with us at our Ash Wednesday Service at 6:00 p.m. We had such a wonderful time at our first-ever Shrove Tuesday Pancake dinner. We raised $511.40 for our capital campaign!
The youth have had a wonderful few weeks! I was blown away by your generosity at the Chili Cook-Off! The final total ended up being over $11,000. This money goes directly into the youth budget to send our kids on the mission trip. We had 14 youths attend Revive Winter Mission and they had such an incredible time. I had the privilege of being there on Friday night for worship and got to pray with many of the students. The Lord moved in powerful ways. Keep praying for our youth.
We begin the Season of Lent, which is 40 days of prayer and fasting leading up to the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. It leads us to Easter. It is a season of prayer and fasting as we journey with Jesus to the cross.
Elisabeth Elliot said this about our posture during Ash Wednesday, “We want to avoid suffering, death, sin, ashes. But we live in a world crushed and broken and torn, a world God Himself visited to redeem. We receive his poured-out life, and being allowed the high privilege of suffering with Him, may then pour ourselves out for others.”
We have the opportunity for self-reflection and surrender to our Lord. I hope you join us at 6:00 p.m.
Another note for those who want to join, we will have a graveside service for Chuck Shelby at the National Cemetery at 1:30 p.m. If you plan to join, I would advise showing up in line at least 15 minutes early.
Blessings,
Pastor Hayley
